Remembrance Sunday is 8 November. The borough service at Ilford War Memorial has started at 10.50am two years running, with gates closing at 10.40am.
Remembrance Sunday falls on 8 November 2026, and Armistice Day on Wednesday 11 November. Redbridge Council has not yet published this year’s list of services. It has used the same six events, at the same places and the same times, for the last two years, so the pattern below is a reliable guide to where to be.
The main one is the council’s civic service at Ilford War Memorial on Eastern Avenue, Newbury Park, which has started at 10.50am with the gates shut at 10.40am. Arrive late and you watch from outside the railings.
The quick answer
Remembrance Sunday is 8 November 2026. In 2024 and 2025 the borough’s civic service at Ilford War Memorial, Eastern Avenue, IG2 7RJ, started at 10.50am, with gates closing at 10.40am. Wanstead’s service was at 12.30pm and Hainault’s at 10.45am.
On Armistice Day, Wednesday 11 November, there have been 10.45am services at Fairlop Waters and Snaresbrook Memorial Garden. The council published its list on 22 October last year; we will confirm this year’s times here when it does.
Where the services were in 2024 and 2025
The council’s lists for 2025 and 2024 name the same places and the same service times. Mapped on to this year’s calendar, that gives:
| Day in 2026 | Where | Time in 2024 and 2025 | Arrive by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saturday 7 November | Woodford War Memorial, High Road, South Woodford, E18 2QE: dedication of the Field of Remembrance | 9am | 8.40am |
| Sunday 8 November | Ilford War Memorial, Eastern Avenue, Newbury Park, IG2 7RJ: borough civic service | 10.50am | Gates close 10.40am |
| Sunday 8 November | Hainault War Memorial, 98 Manford Way, IG7 4DF | 10.45am | Not given |
| Sunday 8 November | Wanstead War Memorial, 17C High Street, E11 2AA | 12.30pm | 12.15pm |
| Wednesday 11 November | Fairlop Waters Country Park, Forest Road, IG6 3HN | 10.45am | 10.30am |
| Wednesday 11 November | Snaresbrook Memorial Garden, 81 Snaresbrook Road, E11 1PQ | 10.45am | 10.45am |
The dates in the first column are this year’s calendar, not a council announcement. The times are last year’s and the year before’s.
Getting to the Ilford War Memorial
The council gives the address as Eastern Avenue, Newbury Park, IG2 7RJ: the memorial is at Newbury Park, not in Ilford town centre. The 10.40am gate closure is the council’s own rule, set out in both years’ notices, and the recommended arrival time moved from 10.30am in 2024 to 10.35am in 2025.
If you are coming by train on the weekend of 7 and 8 November, nothing is booked on the Elizabeth line through Ilford that weekend beyond late-night changes at the Paddington end on the Saturday, per National Rail’s engineering works notice. Road closures for the parades, if any are published, will go on our Ilford roadworks and travel page, and parking detail is on parking in Ilford.
What is still to be confirmed
- This year’s list and times. The council posted its 2025 list on 22 October 2025 and its 2024 list on 4 November 2024. Expect 2026’s in late October.
- Parade routes. Neither year’s council notice gave parade routes or road closures.
- Church services. The council lists civic events only; parish churches publish their own.
We will update this page when the council publishes.
